Cross Country Updates
By: Joshua Deleon
Success at District Competition
Cross Country has now ended for most of the runners after a long but successful season. Most people don’t understand how much hard work and dedication goes into cross country running. The competition is tough. In each race, the high school boys must run 3.2 miles, the girls run 2 miles, while all of junior high runs 2 miles. That is just on competition day. The kids run miles and miles in order to prepare for their main run.
We do still have one Yellowjacket runner going, and that’s Jacob Karre. At the district meet in Bandera, all 1A schools in our district ran, and in the varsity race junior Jacob karre got 6th place which means he will be moving on to regional competition. In the JV race Gilbert Torres placed 10th and Joshua Deleon placed 9th. In Jr. High, 7th grade race Aaron Santleben placed 3rd and in the 8th grade race Skyler Mireles placed 3rd.
We had a good season this year and hope to have another one next year. Jacob will be running in the regional race on Saturday on Saturday, November 5th in San Antonio.

Runners are Ready to Go!
Cross Country is a sport where students run for miles and miles, competing against other students from
different schools. Mr. Kyle Miller is the Cross Country coach for Sabinal ISD. He has been here for a
year now and is working hard to get our Cross Country team to be the best.
There are many students participating in Cross Country, and every day they run and run, until they
can’t run any more simply because they love the sport. Cross Country is a very fun and challenging
sport. If you like to run, then this is definitely the sport for you. If you wish to participate in Cross
Country, go talk to Coach Miller. We are always happy to have new members!
Kaelie Contreras is the only senior runner this year and we wish her the best this season. I hope her
last year running will be the best!
