Paranormal Activity 3 hit theaters last Friday October 21st. With its frightening scenes from the movie trailer and commercials, people were anxious and excited to see it. The movie has already made $54 million and its only Monday which means only three days have gone by since it was first released. That just goes to show how many people love seeing thriller scary movies that give you chills and make you jump at mostly every other scene. Paranormal Activity 3 looks like it turned out to be big success. In my own opinion, I thought it was a very good movie. I saw it last Saturday with a couple of close friends and in the first ten minutes, my friend and I were already covering our eyes! My other friend even jumped at one of the scenes and it takes a lot for her to get scared! I feel this movie was good, I haven’t seen a good scary movie in a while.
I suggest that you see the Paranormal Activity movies 1 and 2 one before you see this one. I didn’t get to watch the second movie, and I was a little lost, so they do build off of each other. It was still really good though, and there are scenes in this movie that may have you jumping and telling the people on screen to run! I know I saw people doing that at the theater it was a little weird seeing people laugh at some of the parts. I laughed along as well because some of the scenes were inane and funny. I guess, in some kind of way it had a little of comedy in it. Either way this movie will have you jumping or screaming! If not, then you must be really hard to scare. Either that, or I get scared easily! I even saw guys getting scared though, so what does that tell you? I hope whoever is reading this goes this weekend or whenever you can. This movie is definitely worth seeing!
The King's Speech

A good movie is powered by a good cast, and The King’s Speech certainly has more than a “good cast”. Tom Hooper (Director), starts the movie off in the mid 1920’s, where we meet Prince Albert (Colin Firth), before becoming king, stammering through a public speech. From the awkward crowd looks, the struggling expressions from Colin, and the abrupt stops at every other word, the movie immediately becomes believable.
The prince’s embarrassment leads his compassionate wife (Helena Bonham Carter), to find the best speech therapist in England. She successfully finds one, an eccentric Australian, Lionel Louge (Geoffrey Rush) who is willing to help out. But when the prince meets Lionel he becomes a total snob, demanding that they strictly keep to business, and that he be called sir. Lionel treats speech lessons just like therapy sessions, eventually diving deeper and deeper into the personal life of the prince. Lionel ends up getting the story of a hard father, King George V (Michael Gambon), a reckless brother, Edward VIII (Guy Pearce), who rejects the crown to marry a twice-divorced American woman, leaving Prince Albert to succeed him-- the last person anyone would have guessed to be the king of England.
Giving a stellar performance Colin Firth, plays a man who struggles to find his voice in the world. While battling with internal conflicts, and pressure of a nation on the brink of war with Germany, the new king must overcome his fear. Receiving twelve Oscar nominations and winning four Academy Awards, for Best Picture, Best Director (Tom Hooper), Best Actor (Colin Firth), and Best Original Screenplay, you know The King’s Speech has to be good. If you like well directed, well acted, and well written movies, then The King’s Speech is the movie for you.

The Smurfs

This is a great movie that both adults and children will love. The Smurfs is based on an old cartoon that first aired in 1958. The idea came from a Belgian cartoonist named Peyo. Director Raja Gosnell and producer Jordan Kerner decided to take the old cartoon and make a movie out of it.
The Smurfs is about a colony of little blue people called, of course, smurfs. In their invisable village, deep in the forest, they are getting prepared for the yearly blue moon to arrive. When Papa Smurf sees a vision of bad news, he is afraid to let anyone know. After following Clumsy smurf into the village, Gargamel an evil wizard, wants to steal the happiness from the smurfs to use it as magic. When running from Gargamel, the smurfs including Papa smurf, Smurfette, Gutsy, Brainy, Grouchy, and Clumsy hide in a cave where they discover a portal. When Gargamel enters the cave the smurfs have no choice but to jump in the portal. The portal they jumped into leads them into what is now modern New York City. After Gargamel follows them through the portal they meet actors Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays. While in New York the smurfs have a wild and hilarious adventure, but when Papa smurf gets captured by Gargamel it’s up to the smurfs to save him with a little help from their new friends Neil and Jayma. Some people may think this movie is a childish movie, but I thought it was extremely funny! I liked it a lot, and I think it is certainly a two-thumbs-up movie.
