Lady Stingers News

Students and parents: I have some interesting things to tell you about the 7th grade basketball tournament. It was on January 26, 2012. The lady stingers came out with a “W”. They played the Tigers in their first game. Victoria Tristan was doing an awesome job on defense. She actually made the first shot of the game! Sofia Rodriguez was making perfect layups and taking away the ball all the time. Kayleigh Karre made the last shot of the first period. There were only 5 seconds left on the clock and she made it! The Tigers score was 0 and the lady stingers score was 13. Madison Smart and Liliana Medina were playing awesome offense! Marissa Deleon, Destiny Silva and Hailey Rodriguez were showing outstanding defense! Tigers caught up 10 points but still made the win!
After the game the girls came up to me and told me “We did have some trouble but we knew we always had to give it 100% because if we didn’t always give it 100% we wouldn’t be in the place we are now!" They had good teamwork and when someone wasn't feeling well, they picked them back up. These girls are the ones you want to see! They put on exciting games you will enjoy watching!
The second game of the day had the lady stingers playing the Crusaders from Del Rio. Kayleigh Karre scored the first shot of the game. Sofia Rodriguez and Madison Smart made a fantastic play. The crusaders caught up which lead to a tie! 4 to 4. Sofia Rodriguez made 3 shots and had the lady stingers in the lead! Destiny Silva took away the ball so fast that the Crusaders fell far behind. Victoria Tristan had awesome defense! A lot of pushing and pulling from the crusaders. They didn’t worry, just focused on their game. We ended the game with a score of Crusader 19, Lady Stingers 30. I hope to see you all at the next game. It is so entertaining!
