The Lady Jackets are now district champs after beating D’hanis the last score 17 to 15. Now their next stop was Somerville in their first playoff game. With a lot of preparation and determination in their practices the Lady Jackets were ready! They played scrimmages against a group of great community volleyball players, and our thanks goes out to them because they certainly did help out the Lady Jackets!
Last Friday the cheerleaders had a black out and they wished Jacob Karre and the volleyball girls good luck. Also at the prep rally one of the varsity volleyball players gave a speech. Desiree Rodriguez a junior told them they are great leaders and mean a lot to the junior volleyball players and how we appreciate them very much. The rest of the juniors who are on the varsity team passed out flowers to seniors and volleyball coaches. The pep rally was a great way to motivate and support the Lady Jackets!
On Saturday morning, the day of the game, Mary Alice Jones with help from other teachers and staff, prepared breakfast for the Lady Jackets and their mothers. It was a very sweet gesture. They also had goodie bags there for the girls as well. With a great breakfast the Lady Jackets headed to the bus. As they got on the bus there were signs and posters made by one of the senior players Maricela Torres. Thanks Mari!
On the way to Schertz where the Lady Jackets were slated to play they, the team was escorted out of town by a police car. On the way out of Sabinal parents and fans gathered at the railroad tracks and also in Hondo to send off the Lady Jackets with their support. The Lady Jackets were happy to see everyone there supporting them!
Once they got there the Lady Jackets had all the preparation and the support they needed for the game! On the first game the Lady Jackets lost by 5 but, still kept on fighting and pushing through. The second game wasn’t their best but, it didn’t matter... they had one more chance and they were not giving up. The third game was very close, ending 31 to 29. It was a very exciting game. The Lady Jackets fought with heart and fought till the end. No matter what the score was at the end of the game, it was a great season. The school and community had fun watching the Lady Jackets come as far as they did. Great season, Lady Jackets!
The Lady Jackets have GREAT Fans!! :D
