Jackets Lose at Playoffs
After preparing all season, it was finally time for the jackets to hit the road up to Somerset where they would play the Pettus Eagles. While on the road the Jackets stopped at Herman’s Sons Steak House in Hondo, Tx. When the Jackets arrived they heard some sad news of a “Fallen Jacket,” the grandfather of player Jon Moore. The game was played in his honor. The Jackets were anxious to win but unfortunately only ended up getting one touchdown by #4 Jon Moore, with a missed field goal which left the final score at 6-31 in favor of the Pettus Eagles.

The yellow jackets are going to playoffs!! The team is now 7-3 which means the Jackets have won enough games to make it to playoff competition. The Yellowjackets defeated the Medina Bobcats last friday with the final score at 42-27. There would have been just one game left, but due to lack of a team, the Leaky Eagles were forced to forfeit. The Sabinal Yellowjackets are now headed to take on the Pettus Eagles on Friday, November 11th in Somerset. The Jackets have had a long, tough season but the season has been a good one. Friday night's competition will be a challenge because we have played Pettus in the past and although it was a good game, they beat us last year. The team has been working hard to get ready, even practicing on the Hondo Owls’ home field to get a feel of a real turf field. Please come out to support your Yellowjackets on Friday!

The Sabinal Yellowjackets were racking up win after win-- five in a row against Brackett, La Pryor, St. Gerard, and Rocksprings--cleaning house with two shutouts (when the opposing team does not score throughout the entire game) against St. Gerard and Rocksprings! The Sabinal Yellow Jackets finally came to a loss against their biggest rival, the D’hanis Cowboys. Unfortunately, the team saw another dramatic loss on Friday the 21st against Nueces Canyon. The Yellowjackets have now set their record at 5-3 with the next game being a do-or-die game in order for the Jackets to make it to the playoffs.
Jackets Caged the Tigers

After several years of losing to the Bracketville Tigers, on September 2nd the Yellowjackets stepped it up and brought home the win that Friday night. All of the Jackets played with a lot of heart and with the cause of some fumbles and an great interception leading to a touchdown by Elijah Gonzales, and a nice catch that also led to a touchdown by Robert Aguilar. Sabinal had several good plays but in the end it was a close game with the Jackets coming out on top with the win, 28-26.
Yellowjackets Kick-off the Season

Football season starts this Friday with the Sabinal Yellow Jackets vs. the Center Point Pirates. The Yellow Jackets started preparing for the season on August 1st with two-a-days. We’ve already had two scrimmages against the Charlotte Trojans and the TMI Panthers. Both scrimmages went well, but could have been a lot better, but with a few adjustments we are ready to take on the Pirates. “It’s sad and exciting, I’m ready to get after it, I’ve been waiting for this my whole high school career”- Hagen Talamantes senior
